Blueberry Mango Smoothie

I almost always make my smoothie for the next day the night prior. That way it is ready to go and I have no excuses. I have no idea why I have that motivation at the end of the day instead of at the start of the next! One way I like to leave a little love for my kids (and provide peace of mind to myself) is to leave smoothies for them when I know I will be at work. My job is usually 8am-5pm but because of my commute and the unpredictable nature of cardiology, I never know if I will be home in time to make dinner. The sweetness that the mango and banana lend is balanced by the cinnamon as well as fiber from both the blueberries and hemp seeds. And thanks to the blue hue, no one can tell that it is secretly a green smoothie full of calcium containing spinach! Hemp seeds provide 10g of anti-inflammatory, alkanizing plant based protein in just 3 tablespoons!

Taco Tuesday: It’s Fun To Make Homemade Corn Tortillas

I made fresh corn tortillas today! They only involve 3 ingredients and take the same time as it would to run to the store to buy ready corn tortillas, return home, and warm them. Obviously, if you threw them into your cart during your usual grocery shopping, it’s quicker to use the ones in the [...]

Caprese Salad: Counting My Basil, Not My Tomatoes

Having a garden has always been an exciting thought to me but the act of gardening has always appeared a puzzling chore to me. I mean, why is it so complex? If you bury a seed in the ground, why shouldn’t it sprout and then progress onward to a fruit or vegetable? How can something older than time, [...]
